The challenges associated with climate change require immediate action. The world has not reached a turning point in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and there is a clear need for far-reaching climate action in terms of both mitigation and adaptation strategies. Moreover, in addition to its environmental impact, climate change also poses a significant social threat, having a disproportionate impact on women and vulnerable groups. Acting as an amplifier of pre-existing social and economic inequalities, the environmental crisis calls for a social justice approach to its resolution.
