Description
Ambassador Anne-Marie Descôtes is a graduate of the École normale supérieure (ENS) and the École nationale d'administration (ENA - Saint-Exupéry class). She studied German language and literature (DEA, agrégation) and art history (licence).
After her studies at the ENA, she was appointed to the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where she was primarily responsible for EU external relations and later for EU internal affairs in the Department for European Cooperation, before becoming a special advisor in the personal staff of the Minister for European Affairs, Pierre Moscovici.
From 2001-2005, she worked as a technical advisor on EU enlargement, Central and South-Eastern Europe at the Permanent Representation of France to the European Union in Brussels. She was the Advisor on European Affairs and the former USSR in Washington (2005-2008) and then, from 2008 to 2013, Director of the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE).
She has also been Head of the General Department of Globalisation, Culture, Education, and International Development at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2013-2017.
Anne-Marie DescĂ´tes has been the Ambassador of France to Germany since 6 June 2017. On 15 May 2009, she received the distinction of Knight of the National Order of Merit and on 18 April 2014 that of Knight of the Legion of Honour.
