Emission Reduction Projects
The Women’s Forum and ClimateSeed have joined forces to achieve meaningful climate action. This action is based on the recognition of the fundamental role of women in the fight against climate change. From global leadership to small communities in developing countries, women must be empowered and involved in protecting our planet if humanity wants to succeed in tackling the most important challenge of our time.
We will support the 3 projects below based on the proportion of votes they receive. Your direct climate contributions included in your Global Meeting passes will also be redirected to these projects.
Cookstoves Project in Kenya
The project is a manufacturing facility, the first and only one of its kind in sub-Saharan Africa. It is the only vertically integrated modern cookstove company in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Currently, the facility has a capacity of 45,000 stoves per month and employs over 400 people, 60% of whom are women. The use of the cookstoves contributes to significant savings of time and money. In Kenya, a family
saves on average $96/year, which is equivalent to a monthly average salary in rural Kenya.
This project has revolutionized the sector, showing that clean cookstoves can deliver and are one of the most cost-effective ways to make a social, financial or environmental impact.

Forest Conservation in Guatemala
The project is the world’s largest grouped forest-based carbon project and aims to develop sustainable activities that restore rather forest and ensure a better livelihood for people and their families. Activities on the ground to develop sustainable livelihoods include working with local farmers on technical assistance, agriculture inputs and route to market for a variety of sustainably produced commodities. A core focus of the project is a community programme to empower women and girls through access to health care and education. For example, the project supports young women to finish their elementary education and continue high school, providing direct training to increase employment opportunities.

PET Recycling in Romania
The first PET recycling project in Europe certified by Gold Standard. The project recycles 2 billion PET bottles an saves approximately 60,000 tCO2e per year. The project aims to increase the recycling rate in Romania and in
the European Union. Since 2003, the project developer has been involved in PET bottles recycling. Without this project, the plastic waste in Romania would go to a large extend to the landfill and both waste and CO2 footprint of this would be significant.
