Description

Nazanin Boniadi is an Iranian-born, British-American actress, producer, and activist. Her advocacy work — focused on the unjust conviction and treatment of Iranian youth, women and prisoners of conscience — has taken her to the German Bundestag, the U.K. Parliament, the U.S. Capitol and the United Nations. Her opinions have been published in global media outlets, including The Washington Post, CNN, Defense One, and The New York Times. In 2018, she was selected by People Magazine as one of their ‘25 Women Changing the World.’ She is also a recipient of the 2020 Freedom House Raising Awareness Award, and the Ellis Island Medal of Honor and is a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR). In 2020, she was appointed as an ambassador for Amnesty International UK. Boniadi has had high-profile roles in programs such as How I Met Your Mother, Homeland, and Counterpart. In 2021, she was cast in a starring role in Amazon’s production of Lord of the Rings, set to become the most expensive TV series ever made. On the big screen, she has won acclaim for her role in Hotel Mumbai (for which she was nominated for an AACTA Award).
