Compared with the rest of the world, Africa has some of the highest numbers of women entrepreneurs. 12% to 14% of the continent’s GDP is created by women’s entrepreneurship. But a high rate of entrepreneurship is not the same as a high rate of enterprise or economic growth. Women entrepreneurs often start from a lower base and face financial, legal and skills barriers.
