Obesity and overweight are a growing health issue worldwide generating a lot of severe complications like type 2 diabetes. These conditions are becoming increasingly more dramatic for children worldwide: in 2018, 40 million children 0-5 years were overweight. Early prevention is key to restrain this epidemic. The first 1000 days of child’s life (from pregnancy to 2 years old) have a profound impact on a child healthy growth. AXA, as a leading health insurer, is committed to support UNICEF’s programmes to prevent overweight among children through the promotion of a healthy lifestyle. In many societies, women are still at the heart of the nutrition of the children. This is why our interventions will rely on empowering women to prevent overweight for their children, themselves and their families.
