Presentation

Graduated in Engineering, Jean-Laurent Bonnafé joined the French civil service, working in the French Ministry of Industry and in the Ministry of Trade and Industry. In 1993, he joined BNP. In 1997, he was appointed Head of Strategy and Development. Following the BNP merger with Paribas in 2000, he led the post-merger integration process. In 2002, he was appointed Head of the French Retail Banking division and in 2006 BNL Managing Director. In 2008, he became BNP Paribas COO and assumed responsibility for the Retail Banking activities of the Group. In 2009, he was appointed CEO of Fortis Bank. In 2010, he was elected a Member of the Board of Directors. In 2011, he was appointed Group CEO.
