Dr. Yas Banifatemi is a partner at the law firm Shearman & Sterling. She heads, on a worldwide basis, the firm’s International Arbitration and Public International Law practices. She also co-manages the firm’s Paris office, where she launched the Shearman#Elles programme for Women Empowerment and the promotion of equality.
Yas is a Vice-President of the ICC International Court of Arbitration, and a member of the LCIA Court of Arbitration in London and the SIAC Court of Arbitration in Singapore.
A graduate of Panthéon-Assas University and Harvard Law School, Yas teaches at Harvard, Yale, and Panthéon-Sorbonne law schools. Yas was praised in “The Best and the Brightest” 45 female lawyers under 45 worldwide by The American Lawyer (2011). She is an honoree of Harvard Law School’s “Women Inspiring Change” (2014 inaugural year).
