Dr Nicole Karam is associate professor in Cardiology at the European Hospital Georges Pompidou. She is specialized in interventional cardiology and performs both coronary and percutaneous valvular interventions, which are novel techniques allowing valve repair without surgery.
She also holds a Ph.D. in Epidemiology and Statistics and is affiliated to the National Institute of health and medical research (INSERM, Unit 970). Her research focuses on sudden cardiac death, valvular heart disease and cardiovascular disease among women
Dr Karam is fellow of the European Society of Cardiology, and member of the steering committee of the Women European Association of Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions, that aims is to promote the role of women in interventional cardiology, that is still a highly masculine field.
