Biography

Angel Gurría has been OECD Secretary-General since 2006. Under his leadership, the OECD established itself as a pillar of the global economic governance architecture and advanced its active engagement with international fora such as the G20, G7 and APEC. He amplified the OECD’s impact in several policy areas, focusing on well-being, inclusive growth and new approaches to economic challenges. He has fostered the OECD’s global outreach through new memberships and strengthened the link with key emerging economies. Mr. Gurría came to the OECD following a distinguished career in public service in Mexico, including positions as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Finance and Public Credit.
