Description
Dr Fabiola Gianotti received a PhD in physics from the University of Milan. Since 1994 she is a researcher at CERN, the European Laboratory for Particle Physics, and became Director-General in 2016. In 2012, as the project leader of the ATLAS experiment, she announced the discovery of the Higgs boson, together with the CMS project leader. Fabiola Gianotti received honorary doctoral degrees from 12 different Universities and several awards, including the Special Breakthrough prize in Fundamental Physics, the Fermi prize of the Italian Physical Society and the Tate Medal of the American Institute of Physics for International Leadership.
