Description

The Hon Marise Payne is an accomplished, considered strategic leader, highly experienced in foreign policy, national security and strategic issues. Marise served as Australia’s Minister for Defence and Minister for Foreign Affairs in the most challenging and complex strategic environments of recent times, and as Minister for Women and Minister for Human Services. Marise’s career focus is on working closely with allies and partners and developing key relationships to deliver greater strategic strength and resilience. She is currently a Distinguished Visiting Fellow at Hoover Institution and a Professor of Practice in International Relations and Public Policy at Western Sydney University.

Feminist diplomacy applies a gendered lens to all political pursuits, including poverty reduction, sustainable development, peace and security, defence and the protection of human rights. How do educational inequalities impact the success of these political objectives? How can gender-based violence be prevented and eliminated at policy level? What are the most effective ways of diffusing the need to learn about and from feminist diplomacy?
