Panmela Castro is an anti-racist artist and feminist activist from Rio de Janeiro dedicated for the end of gender-based violence. Her artwork has been shown in museums in the world and is featured in important collections challenging the sexist logic of power in the traditional artworld.
As a survivor of domestic violence, Panmela has dedicated the past 20 years of her career to raising awareness on women’s rights through art, art education and public graffiti mural projects. She founded Rede NAMI, an arts organization that has directly impacted the lives of more than 10,000 women, particularly women of color, in Brazil.
