Description
Asrar Damdam is a scientist and entrepreneur who pursued her Ph.D. in electrical and computer engineering with her research focusing on the Internet of Food. She is also the founder and CEO of Uvera, a cleantech startup focusing on tackling the global challenge of reducing food waste to half by 2030. Uvera products keep food fresher for longer, by up to 97% on average, within 30 seconds and without use of chemicals. Asrar received the L'Oreal-UNESCO award for Women in Science (2020) for her groundbreaking scientific research. She was also named to the Forbes 30 under 30 list (2021), the Fast Company list of most creative people in business (2022), the 50NEXT list of people shaping the future of gastronomy (2022), and the Bloomberg New Economy Catalysts list (2022). Asrar is endeavoring to transform state-of-the-art technologies into products that can help reduce food waste and elevate environmental awareness and sustainability at the levels of consumers and retailers.
