Isabelle Lonvis-Rome is currently the French Minister for gender equality, diversity and equal opportunities reporting to the Prime Minister. She was born in 1963 in Bourg-en-Bresse, close to the city of Lyon (France). Graduated from the French National School for the Judiciary, she became at 23 the youngest French magistrate. Isabelle Lonvis-Rome was firstly a sentence enforcement judge in Lyon before being appointed as general secretary of the presidency and investigating judge. From 2000 to 2002, she was a technical advisor in charge of judicial protection of youth, victime assistance and access to rights into Marylise Lebranchu's office, former French Minister of Justice. Isabelle Lonvis-Rome returned to the courts and quickly became a family court judge and an assize court President in Amiens and Pontoise. On June 1st, 2018, she was appointed by the Minister of Justice, Nicole Belloubet, as a senior civil servant in charge of equality between men and women at the Ministry of Justice. Finally, on May 20th, 2022, she was appointed by the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, and the Prime Minister, Élisabeth Borne, Minister delegate to the Prime Minister in charge of gender equality, diversity and equal opportunities. Throughout her life, she has been truly involved in the community sector and dedicated her work to causes such as prisoner rehabilitation, migrant help, and helping women victims of violence. She is also an author and has written several books on the profession of judge ("Vous êtes naïve, Madame la juge"), on women in prison ("Dans une prison de femmes : une juge en immersion") as well as on domestic violence, in particular the hold that one person can have on the other in domestic violence situations ("L'emprise et les violences au sein du couple").
