Description

UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador, Maya Ghazal fled war in her home country of Syria in 2015. With determination, hope and resilience she started a new life in the UK. Overcoming many challenges Maya recently graduated university in London with a degree in Aviation Engineering and is now a Research Engineer at the UK's Manufacturing Technology Centre. In 2019 Maya fulfilled her dream of becoming the first female Syrian refugee pilot. She is a fierce advocate for refugee rights, particularly ensuring that all refugees have access to quality education. Through sharing her own story she not only inspires others to smash stereotypes, she offers solutions to better understand refugees and makes the compelling case for why we should invest in the limitless potential of those forcibly displaced.
