Description
Ghada Hatem-Gantzer is an obstetrician-gynecologist.
Born in Lebanon she moved to Paris to study medicine in 1977.
She joined the Hopital Delafontaine Hospital in 2010 where she established an IVF center, a female genital mutilation (FGM) treatment unit, and a breast cancer care unit in partnership with Institut Curie.
Knowing the significant health impacts of gender-based violence (GBV), and convinced that gynecologists and midwives are best placed to provide care, Dr Hatem-Gantzer founded the Maison des Femmes in Saint-Denis in July 2016, the first health care facility dedicated to holistic care and management for survivors of GBV.
The Maison des Femmes awarded the Peace Prize by the Brussels University Hospital in 2017, and lauded with the European Citizen Prize in 2018.
