Description
Blanca Jiménez Cisneros took up her post as Mexico's Ambassador to France on 30 August 2021. She has over 40 years of experience as a civil servant and researcher, particularly in environmental engineering, water management, the fight against climate change and scientific diplomacy. Throughout her career, she has worked in academic research, government and multilateral international bodies. She is an Environmental Engineer (1980) with a Master’s degree on Pollution Control (1982), a PhD degree (1985) and a Postdoctoral stage (France, 1987) in Water and Wastewater Treatment and Reuse. From 2012 to 2018, she was Director of the Division of Water Sciences at UNESCO and Secretary of the International Hydrological Programme. From 2018 to 2021 she was the General Director of Mexico’s National Water Commission.
